Maskcara Beauty Artist

I'm now a Maskcara Beauty Artist! For a while now, I've wanted to have a go-to simple solution for clients who struggle with knowing how to wear their make up for their photo session but who don't necessarily want add in the step of hiring a make up artist. If you have it within your budget to splurge on a make up artist, I say still go this route because they do such great work and you don't have to do anything but walk in and get pampered! However, if you're someone who would rather use the money you'd spend on a make up artist to put towards your wall collection order and you also love make-up, this is a wonderful alternative! Not only can you wear this make up for your session, but if you purchase the full kit you'll be able to wear it as your every day make up as well as on special occassions.

You can view all of the amazing foundation colors and make up brushes/tools by visiting here.

I did a quick HACing (highlighting and contouring) tutorial to show you how easy the application is and how natural and flawless the end result looks!

I'm happy to color match you and do a complimentary makeover so you know exactly which colors to order! Send me a message if you want to set up a consultation. I'll be announcing dates for my spring sessions soon too!

Downtown St. Louis Engagement | Jenny + Garrett

This engagement session in downtown St. Louis was such a dream! Everything came together so perfectly; from the skyline views of the St. Louis Arch, to the way Jenny and Garrett interacted with each other and were so naturally at ease being in front of the camera! I photographed Jenny's sister's wedding a few years back and you better believe I did a happy dance when Jenny reached out to me and asked me to photograph her and Garrett's wedding too. As luck would have it, Jenny and Garrett were still living in Philadelphia this past summer when my family and I moved just outside the city. For about a month we all lived in the same place which made it so nice to meet up and plan the details for their engagement session.

Shortly after our meet up, Jenny and Garrett moved to St. Louis to start graduate school and we decided their new city would make an incredible backdrop for their engagement session.

They get married this weekend in Tulsa, so to celebrate here's a few favorites from their session!

Tulsa Oklahoma Travel Sessions

I'll be in Tulsa, Oklahoma photographing family sessions October 21-27th! My schedule is filling up fast and I have 3 session times still available. Contact me to get on my schedule! This may be the last time I come to Tulsa for a while, so if you've been waiting to book a session, now is totally the time!

Ariel | Albion Basin Utah Maternity Session

Maternity sessions have become some of my favorite portrait sessions to photograph. I think part of it stems from my lack of maternity photos when I was pregnant with my first child. I regret so much that I didn't document that incredible moment in mine and my babies life. So I'm making up for it by photographing other mothers so they don't have the same regrets. Nine months sounds like a long time, but it truly goes by so quickly.

This maternity session I photographed while I was visiting Utah this month was super special to me. I met Ariel last summer while we were both on a service trip in Fiji. We bonded over spending lots of time snuggling babies in the village we were staying, and I saw then how much affection she has for babies and children and how big and good her heart is for their little souls. Albion Basin was the perfect backdrop to show off how stunning this mama to be is!

Utah Travel Sessions

I'm going to be in Northern Utah from August 31, 2016 until September 14th, 2016 and I'm scheduling travel sessions while I'm out West! I only come a few times a year and have limited openings available. Email me if you would like to reserve your session on my calendar!

My travel sessions are $275

We start with a planning session to go over everything from location, to wardrobe, to defining your home aesthetic and what kinds of photographic products you want to display in your home! It's so much fun brainstorming and collaborating this part and I'm excited to have added this service to my travel sessions.

The session itself typically last about an hour and together we'll capture a whole variety of images and poses for you to choose from at your viewing and ordering appointment. Your session can take place in your home or on location!

Amy and Russ Maternity Session

Today I am so excited to share the news that my good friend Amy and her husband Russ have announced the news that they are pregnant! It's been a long road of infertility and they have managed to make it through with so much grace and faith. She shares her trials of enduring endometriosis and IVF as well as her insecurities of becoming a mother. Infertility is so common, approximately 10% of women, just over 6 million women in the United States alone, struggle to get pregnant. I personally know over a dozen women, close family and friends, who have had difficulty getting pregnant. The strength of these women is incredible and the faith they have to keep trying has taught me so much about perseverance.

If you'd like to read her story, she is sharing it on her blog today!

She called me a week or so before I was to move and told me the news! I was so thrilled for them and I'm glad we were able to shoot these images before I left Tulsa. I know it's cliche, but there really is nothing prettier than the glow of a pregnant woman!

Spring Family Photos in Tulsa

I'll be photographing my last family photo sessions in Tulsa for Spring 2016 May 17-21. I have openings for evening and morning sessions, whatever work best for your family schedule! Get in touch with me to get on my calendar. I'll be moving the 28th so if you're in Tulsa or nearby now is the last chance to get your family photos taken by me before I move!

New Website Launch + Give-a-way

I don't think it ever gets easier to press publish on a project you've been working on for way longer than you care to admit. This new website has been a labor of love and has forced me to really do some self reflection so I can better show off my style in a way that is very much me. It's intimidating to put yourself and the work the represents you out into the world along side so much amazing talent! But today I am pushing publish and showing off the latest happenings in my little world!

One of the key things I wanted to punch up a knotch over here was the client experience I was offering. My business is all about creating gorgeous imagery for my clients so they can have amazing art work hanging and displayed in their home. Lucky for you, this launch means new pretty content to look through that I've kept hidden away on desktop folders, as well as a GIVE-A-WAY!

I wanted this new website launch to be exciting for everyone, not just me, so I've teamed up with my good friend Alex, the genius and lovely calligrapher over at Prairie Letter shop and together we're offering a free photo session from me, (engagement, family, bridals, senior, just-because portrait, etc *not including weddings) plus a custom photo print from the session and a custom art piece from Alex to one lucky winner!

To enter follow 4 these easy steps!

1. LIKE this photo

2. Follow both @photographybyjamileavitt and @prairielettershop on Instagram

2. In your feed, post any photo of the person or group of people you want to have with you in the photographs we take during our session and use the hashtag #jamitakemypicture

3. Tag at least 3 friends in the comments

HOW EASY WAS THAT?! One lucky winner will be chosen at random one week from today! (Tuesday, May 9, 2016 at noon CST) Session must take place during the 2016 calendar year. Travel fee may apply outside of Utah, Oklahoma, or Pennsylvania.

For additional entries leave a comment about why you'd like to win the give-a-way on the blog post linked in my bio.

Lastly, I just wanted to give a big shout out to my friend Kersten Anderson with Speak Easy Marketing Strategies who is helping hold my hand and get me on track with all of my social media needs. She's the bomb and helped me build a more consistent business strategy. I also want to thank Emylee Williams with Think Creative Collective who has also acted as a great mentor and has taught me a whole lot of new tips and tricks when it comes to running a more streamlined and successful business. Both of these ladies are amazing and I couldn't have done this launch without their help!

Big changes for 2016

I'm so excited to announce that we will be relocating to our new home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! My husband who just graduated from OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine will begin his residency training in OB/GYN at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. It's a big change for sure and one we're still wrapping our heads around, but we can't wait to start!

About a month ago, we traveled to Philly to house hunt for a few days and while we were there I just fell in love with the city! Driving around all the old neighborhoods and row homes, I realized what a different vibe we are in for when we make the move back East. I'm used to wide open spaces and smaller communities. I laugh when I think about when we moved to Tulsa four years ago and how I thought that was a huge change from what I was accustom to in Utah. But Philly, man, it will be change for sure! A drastic one! Just in population density alone I can't even wrap my mind around how many people we'll be surrounded by. (I sound so small town!)

What does this mean for my business? Only that we're expanding to a new place! I have built a lot of loyal and strong relationships with my clients in each city we've lived and I will continue to nurture those relationships and visit often! I plan on making multiple trips to Utah and Tulsa each year.

So lets stay friends, yeah? Come visit us in the city of Brotherly Love!
